Spinach & Ham Strata

Serves 4

Ingrédients

  • 6 slices of bread
  • 1 package (300 g) frozen or 1 bag fresh spinach
  • 8 oz (250 g) Mozzarella cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 1½ cups (375 ml) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) dry mustard powder or curry powder
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1/2 cup (200 g) cooked ham, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped

Mode d'emploi

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Grease a 13 x 9 inch (33 x 23 cm) pan.
  3. Cut bread into cubes.
  4. Defrost or wash and chop spinach. (Do not wash frozen spinach.)
  5. Grate cheese.
  6. Line bottom of pan with bread cubes.
  7. In a bowl, mix together eggs, milk, cheese, spices and spinach.
  8. Pour mixture over bread cubes.
  9. Sprinkle ham and onion over spinach mixture.
  10. Cover baking dish with aluminium foil.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes.
  12. Remove aluminium foil and continue to bake another 30 minutes or until mixture is set.
