Ingrédients
- 2 cups (500 ml) or 4 slices dry bread, cubed
- 2 cups (500 ml) milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 teaspoon (2 ml) vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sugar
- 1 cup (250 ml) sliced assorted fruits (bananas, pears, apples)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) butter or margarine
Mode d'emploi
- Preheat oven to 325°F (170°C).
- Grease a 9 x 13 inch (33 x 23 cm) baking dish.
- Soak bread cubes in milk.
- After 15 minutes, remove excess milk and set aside, in another bowl.
- Add egg, vanilla extract and sugar to excess milk. Stir.
- In baking dish, spread a layer of bread followed by a layer of fruit. Repeat layers.
- Pour milk mixture over fruit and bread and top with small pieces of butter.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
Variation: Replace bananas with dates and replace vanilla with cinnamon.
